About the Poster

The book of Numbers gets its name primarily from the two census’ that are conducted at the beginning and the end of the book. Shortly after the nation of Israel was liberated from Egypt God wanted to prepare them to invade and take the Promised Land. Because of the rebellion of the people they were forced to wander in the wilderness for 40 years. At the end of the 40 years God commands another census to be taken as a way to show the people they were to prepare once more to go and take what God had given to them.

While the book’s action doesn’t primarily revolve around “numbers” it is a theme and there are many other numerated aspects that pop up. This infographic gives a few illustrated examples of the significance “numbers” play in this book of the Bible.
